Privacy Policy

Information you give us to prepare your will. This is the bulk of it: your full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, Emirates ID number, address, marital status and contact details. It also includes details of the people you name — your spouse, your children and their dates of birth, your executors, your guardians and your beneficiaries, including their names, relationships to you and the shares you leave them.

Information about other people. When you name someone in your will, you are giving us their personal information. We only use it to prepare and register your will. Please only enter details you are comfortable sharing with us for that purpose.

Account and contact information. Your email address, and your phone number if you give us one. You can start a will without creating an account; if you do, we hold a temporary anonymous session until you attach an email address.

Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive a record that a payment succeeded, the amount, and a reference. We never see or store your full card number.

Technical information. Your IP address, browser and device type, and how you move through the site. Analytics and advertising information is only collected if you accept cookies — see our Cookie Policy.

To prepare and generate your will, and to guide you through registering it with the court. Our basis is performance of our contract with you.

To take payment and issue receipts. Performance of contract, and compliance with our legal and accounting obligations.

To send you service messages — your receipt, your will being ready, reminders about registering it, and notices about corrections the court has asked for. Performance of contract.

To improve the service, keep it secure and prevent fraud or abuse. Our legitimate interests in running a safe and functioning service.

To measure our advertising and understand how people find us. Your consent, given through the cookie notice, which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with our partners. If you arrived through a partner link, that partner can see that a referral converted. They never see your will, who you named, or your documents.

Our database and documents are hosted with an established cloud provider on infrastructure located in Japan. Your information therefore leaves the UAE.

We also use a small number of service providers based outside the UAE: a payment provider, providers for email delivery and analytics, advertising measurement services, the AI transliteration service described above, and our own internal notification tools. When your will document is generated, it is converted to PDF by our own conversion service running on infrastructure in Germany; the document passes through that server only for the seconds the conversion takes and is not stored there.

Where personal data is transferred outside the UAE we rely on the transfer provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 and on the contractual protections our providers offer. If you would like the names of specific providers, ask us and we will tell you.

Under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, you have the right to be told how your information is used, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we process it, to have it transferred to another provider, and to object to decisions made purely automatically.

To exercise any of these, email hello@uaeexpatwill.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, because this information is sensitive and we will not hand it to the wrong person.
